PRIVATE TOURS

Come join us for a private 1.5 hour tour of Blackberry Creek Farm Animal Sanctuary, located in quaint Colfax, California in the beautiful Sierra Nevada foothills. Home to pigs, cows, chickens, turkeys, goats, sheep, Guinea fowl, ducks, geese, miniature donkeys, cats, a dog, llamas, and a tortoise, we provide rescue, rehabilitation, education, and advocacy on behalf of farmed animals.

Tours are booked for a donation of $40/person (minimum $200 donation) with a maximum of 8 guests. They include a visit to each habitat of the sanctuary and interaction with the animals who live there based on their choice. We are not a petting zoo and cannot guarantee the participation of any particular animal, but typically visitors will get to pet a cow, feed a llama, hug a donkey, kiss a turkey, and give a pig belly rubs. Please do not bring food for the animals, as some are on special diets. We will provide snacks for certain animals that are safe for visitors to feed. Please note our cows are at a different property for grazing April - July.

The sanctuary is just that... a quiet, peaceful place, and we require that adults who bring children do so at a 1:1 ratio to ensure their safety and that of the animals. Before the tour, we will talk about quiet voices, safety protocols, and appropriate interaction with each species. An ADA portable restroom with outdoor sink will be available for guest use.

During the tour, you will hear the stories of many of the rescued animals at the sanctuary and learn about the animal agriculture industry and how plant-based lifestyles can benefit the animals, human health, and the environment.

Important Guidelines to Keep You and the Animals Safe:

  • We will be following COVID-19 protocols and ask that guests please wear masks around our animal residents, volunteers, and tour guides as there are times we will be closer than 6 feet apart while interacting with the animals. Tours are subject to changes or cancellation (with a refund) based on state COVID-19 mandate changes. If you are not willing to wear a mask, do not book a tour.

  • Close-toed shoes are required at all times for safety and we recommend boots or sturdy tennis shoes for uneven ground, creek crossings, and an occasional peck from a rooster.

  • For the safety of all animals and guests, companion animals are not allowed on the property. Exceptions may be made for ADA-compliant service animals but only in certain areas that are deemed safe for them.

  • There is no smoking on the property.

  • If visitors bring their own snacks they must be free of animal products (meat, dairy, eggs, honey, gelatin, etc.) out of respect for our residents and mission.

  • Water bottles and sunscreen are encouraged especially during the hot summer months.

  • Dress appropriately for the weather and to visit farm animals. Be ready to be covered in dust, mud, slobber, and animal hair.

  • Each visitor (or his or her guardian if under 18) must read and sign the waiver with photo release (linked when you book your tour) before arriving at the sanctuary. If a minor is coming without his or her legal guardian (ex: a grandparent bringing a grandchild) the legal guardian MUST sign the waivers.

  • Pictures are allowed (and encouraged!) but always be vigilant around all animals as phones can be dangerous distractions and animals can be unpredictable.

  • Doors and gates must be securely closed at all times.

  •

NOTE: All donations for tour bookings are final. Unfortunately, no refunds will be given for cancellations on the part of the visitor after tours are scheduled. If you need to change the date of your tour, we can do so with a minimum of 7 days notice. We reserve the right to reschedule or cancel tours (with a full refund) due to inclement weather or animal emergencies. Thank you for understanding; your contribution makes a profound difference to the animals in our care.
